Marine Le Pen, née Marion Anne Perrine Le Pen le 5 août 1968 à Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine), est une avocate et femme politique française.

Benjamine des trois filles de Jean-Marie Le Pen, président du Front national depuis 1972, et de sa première épouse Pierrette Lalanne, Marine est élève au lycée Florent Schmitt de Saint-Cloud. Elle étudie par la suite le droit à l’université Paris II-Assas où elle obtient une maîtrise en droit (mention carrières judiciaires) en 1990 puis un DEA de droit pénal en 1991. Durant ses années à l’université, elle prend part au Cercle national des étudiants de Paris (CNEP), un mouvement étudiant proche du Front national, dont elle est un temps la Pésidente d’honneur.

En 1992, elle obtient le certificat d’aptitude à la profession d’avocat (CAPA) et devient avocate au barreau de Paris. Elle plaide alors régulièrement devant la XXIIIème chambre correctionnelle du tribunal de grande instance de Paris qui juge les comparutions immédiates. Inscrite au barreau de Paris jusqu’en 1998, elle entre ensuite au service juridique du Front national.

Adhérant au Front national en 1986 à l’âge de 18 ans, elle se présente pour la première fois à une élection lors des législatives de 1993, où elle est candidate du Front national dans la 16ème circonscription de Paris (XVIIème arrondissement). Elle y recueille 11,1 % des voix.

C’est en 1998 qu’elle commence à exercer son premier mandat politique en tant que conseillère régionale du Nord-Pas-de-Calais, élue dans le Nord sur la liste conduite par Carl Lang. Mais c’est en 2002, au soir du second tour de l’élection présidentielle auquel Jean-Marie Le Pen s’était qualifié, qu’elle apparaît sur la scène médiatique. Un mois plus tard, en juin 2002, elle se présente aux élections législatives à Lens, dans la treizième circonscription du Pas-de-Calais. Elle obtient 24,24 % des voix au premier tour, ce qui lui permet de se qualifier pour le second tour, au cours duquel elle recueille 32,30 % des suffrages face au candidat socialiste Jean-Claude Bois.

Entre temps, en 2000, elle prend la tête de l’association Génération Le Pen, fondée en 1998 par Samuel Maréchal, qu’elle renomme Générations Le Pen. Lors du XIIe congrès du Front national, qui s’est tenu à Nice en avril 2003, Marine Le Pen est nommée Vice-Présidente exécutive du Front national. Élue au Parlement européen en 2004, elle est réélue en 2009 avec Jean-Marie Le Pen et Bruno Gollnisch.

En novembre 2007, lors du XIIIe congrès du Front national à Bordeaux, Marine Le Pen arrive en seconde position derrière Bruno Gollnisch, à l’élection du comité central du Front national. Les adhérents ont été 75,76 % à lui accorder leur confiance. Lors de ce même congrès, Jean-Marie Le Pen la nomme vice-présidente exécutive du FN, chargée des “affaires intérieures”, ce qui implique entre autres : la formation des cadres et des militants, la communication interne et externe du parti.

Occupant initialement l’un des deux postes de vice-président exécutif du Front national, elle siège depuis juillet 2004 au Parlement européen. Elle est également conseillère régionale du Nord-Pas-de-Calais depuis mars 2010 et conseillère municipale d’Hénin-Beaumont depuis mars 2008. Candidate à la succession de Jean-Marie Le Pen, à la présidence du Front national (FN, dans le cadre du XIVème Congrès de ce parti, les 15 et 16 janvier 2011 à Tours, elle est élue présidente du mouvement avec 67,7 % des voix contre Bruno Gollnisch.
