Caring for migrant workers abroad is politics. Caring for migrant workers abroad is truly nationalism. Caring for migrant workers abroad is truly patriotic. Any politicians indifference to suffering of migrant workers cannot be truly called themselves as politicians. ( Bdc Burma )

Burmese and Global citizens around the world are very concerned that two Burmese migrant workers are used as the scapegoats for the murder of two British tourists. We call for British, Burmese and Thailand governments to cooperate working together for the murder investigation so as to seek justice for the murdered victims rather than letting corrupted Thai police get away with impunity.
Concerned global citizens believe that SEAN McANNA may have the major information regarding about the murder case and asking him to come out cooperating with the investigation.
The Burmese legal team met with two migrants who had been accused of murdering two British, Hannah Witheridge, 23, and David Miller, 24.
U Aung Myo Thant, Burmese lawyer who also took part in the team said the two suspects who are migrants from Burma, Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htun are in good health. They took the records of what they said while meeting with them.
The team asked the two suspects about the case and they said they played the guitar and smoked near the place which is about 25 yards away from the murder scene.
The two suspects were accused because of matching DNA found on the cigarette butt near the dead body. Although they said they played guitar near the scene, they were not in good state to explain well and to clearly state what had happened. They said they drunk five cans of beers.
The team asked whether they heard anything while they were drinking, they said they heard the girl shouting. Asking about the tools which they had been accused of killing two British, they said they didn’t take the tools.
The team noticed the obvious fact that they look scared and fear of something. They can’t answer clearly.
Asking about the confession of murder, they said “no” at first and then they said they were beaten by the interpreter as well as the police. First suspect Zaw Htun was hit by them about four times on the chest and second suspect was hit on the face and chest around four or five times.
Asking about the DNA match on the cigarette butt, they admitted that they did smoke and throw away cigarettes which is 25 yards away from the murder scene where they played guitar. But they were accused of DNA match of cigarette found near the dead body.
Asking about the official consent on representing at court, the team said they did get the signed forms and consent to help them.
The Burmese legal team requested to meet with Maung Maung, who is being held by Thai authorities. The Thai police refused a request from the Burmese legal team to let them meet with Maung Maung by saying he is a witness and he is not allowed. Although the Burmese Legal team tried hard to get a chance to meet with Maung Maung, the Thai police didn’t let them.
The Burmese legal team also requested the whole case file to copy in order to analyze the case in details with the information they get from the two suspects and other reliable sources to clarify whether these two suspects actually commit the crime or not. But, it is in vain. The Thai police refused to let them copy the whole case files. The Thai police said, the case was not in court yet and they can’t let the Burmese team copy before that.
The Burmese legal team is now working closely under the supervision of Burmese Ambassador U Win Maung and also giving timely reports to the Burmese government regarding this case. The team said they are cooperating with the Burmese government and the Burmese Embassy in Bangkok and are acting in accordance with Thai law.
We want to see justice realities but we don’t want to see injustice has been done as the quick-fix for Thailand’s tourism industry as well as tarnishing Burmese people reputation. At the same time Burmese tourism industry is booming and becoming the formidable competitor for Thailand and Thailand is very much concerned about Burma’s emerging tourism industry. People are saying that Thailand police is killing three birds (by doing so Thailand is tarnishing her historic enemy Burmese reputation, quick-fix for Thailand’s tourism industry and tarnishing Burma’s tourism industry) with one stone.
